Early last month, Frontier Japan have announced the UX series, a new 10.1” Pinetrail netbook which had above average specs, for a netbook. Now they’ve gone one step further by adding even more options. Now you can configure one with WiMAX, GPS or your choice of a 16GB - 128GB SSD.
Other specs that we’ve seen previously: a 10.1” 1024 x 600 display (glossy), 2GB RAM, Atom N450 processor, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi and Windows 7 Home Premium. There’s that removable DVD drive which you can switch to a HDD or probably just leave nothing in there to drop the weight. There’s the bog standard array of ports. A couple of specs that don’t sound too impressive are the 6.4 hour battery life and the 1.4 kg / 3.0 pound weight which is rather heavy for a 10-incher.
Price for a 32GB SSD model with WiMAX starts a 69,800 yen ($780). Pricing is in the CULV notebook range.
