Updates:
Now with Windows 7 out, there are just so many new notebooks to explore and one of the first I chose to explore is the brand new refreshed 11.6” Acer Aspire 1410 with Windows 7 Home Premium and dual-core SU2300 (1.2GHz) processor. This is by far the best value 11.6” notebook there is on the market right now at $399.99 at Amazon.com.
The Aspire 1410 is amazingly light and it even fits in my 10-inch ZeroShock case. The specs are much more powerful than the Acer Aspire 751 that I reviewed already which has a very similar chassis. It still has the same keyboard as on the 751 so the keys are a little mushy to the press along with some flex in the keyboard itself.
This white model is not available in the US.
Here are the specs:

The flex looked pretty bad in that video from what I seen. I’m hoping to try it out in the store, I am very interested in the refreshed 1410 for its price and performance. Originally I was going to get the HP Mini 311 but I decided to wait and see what was coming out with Windows 7. Can’t wait for the review.
hows it playing HD video—1080p?
This looks awesome. My first netbook will be either this (if I can find one in Hong Kong next month), or the HP Mini 311. I prefer this though because of the dual core CPU. I want to be able to run VirtualBox on this thing…
The white/silver combo looks sweet!
PS: Nice to hear an Aussie accent in a PC review for a change!
Hey, I’m looking for a case for my 1410… You mentioned the zeroshock 10” ? Can you please point out which model that would be? There are a variety of sub-sizes for the zeroshock. Thanks!
Peter, thanks for the review and comments so far.
Do you think you could post some stats (or video!) doing some multitasking on this machine? E.g., having MS Word open + Browser (with multiple tabs open) + one or two other apps?
I’d also be really interested to see how this can handle basic Photoshop CS4 tasks, though I realise I could be stretching my luck here ;)
Thanks Peter for the solution. I didn’t think it was that easy. I’m definitely going to get this now. Only thing to do is find some good adhesive…
Thanks again Peter. That guide will sure come in handy. Though I doubt I’ll need to use that much adhesive tape like what you did haha. Looking forward towards your review of the Acer Timline 1410.
Thanks, Peter. I just watched the HD playback test you posted on youtube - this dual-core celeron does surprisingly well! It’s pretty much sealed the deal for me. Being able to play HD youtube clips plus the extra horsepower puts it ahead of Atom based ION netbooks in my opinion (who is really going to game on a netbook anyway, and lug around a mouse with it?).
Thanks again. Seems like a great little machine!
hey, does the hdmi connects sound and image like they normally do in an AV equipment?
can u tell me if they’re the same?

Does it make alot of noise and heat? i mean, using it in a library for instance?
