HP’s Pavilion DM1 11.6” CULV notebook, still not yet available in the US and probably won’t ever be I guess given how long it’s been on the market already elsewhere, has just seen an unusual upgrade in Japan. They’ve released a new model with an 80GB SSD. Other than that and an upgrade to 3GB RAM it’s still packing a dual core Intel SU2300 processor (1.2GHz) and the rest of the specs are the same. I like that option but it has the nasty side effect of bumping up the price way up.

I can’t decide whether to get the DM1-1030SA (3gb RAM and Pentium SU4100 processor) or the Acer 1810TZ… specs are similar, same processor, guess it comes down to personal preference. Any help would be appreciated!
Off the top of my head, I think the 1810TZ has a higher cap.
Keyboard on the DM1 while a little cramped (for an 11.6-incher) it feels much better than the one of the Acer. On the other hand, Acer’s is very easy to type on but tactile feedback is a bit on the soft / mushy side.
Acer’s trackpad is one of the most responsive I’ve used (the multi touch scrolling and back/forward swiping)
Battery… I prefer the Acer - plus there’s a whole thread of hacks and tips for the Timeline series over at the notebook forums.
Thanks for participating!
