VIA, with it’s GMB Alliance program, is making a huge push with their VIA platform in China, tempting manufacturers away from the Intel Atom architecture. Now, one such product from this collaboration makes the light of day in the form of the 12.2” Chupin VIA C855 which gets reviewed.
The VIA C855 is powered by a VIA Nano processor U1700 (1.3GHz) and the VX855 chipset with allows these VIA netbooks to pump out 1080P HD video, as we’ve seen before.
Other specs include a 12.2” 1366 x 768 display, 1GB RAM, 160GB HDD, 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, HDMI and VGA out, 3x USB, audio jacks. Has a SIM card slot and seems ready for 3G. Runs Windows XP for now.
I’d like to see some more of these VIA netbooks out in the global market, and eagerly await an ION 2 powered VIA Nano netbook!
