8.9” ASUS Eee PC 900 With Resistive Multi-Touch Display

Update: Silly mistake, it’s clearly not a 9-inch sized Eee PC, it’s a 10-incher.

There were several companies over at FPD 2009 here in Japan showcasing touchscreen displays. First up is EELY-ECW from Taiwan who caught my attention with this lone ASUS Eee PC 901 sporting one of their resistive multi-touch displays.

It was responsive enough and it works with one or two fingers and a stylus is fine too. It’s available in anti-glare or glare surface treatments. It can be constructed anywhere from 2-layers to 4-layers. Transmission (of light through the touch screen) ranged from 76% - 80%. This touch screen has applications for pretty much anything that can have a touch screen.

There was no mention of sizes available but the application list included PCs, PDA, hand held devices, and more.

They were also showcasing projected capacitive touch screens but they were restricted to phones. Find out more about their touchscreen products.
