Considering that laptops in Germany tend to go for about the same price in Euros as they cost here in dollars, this sounds almost too good to be true, and a definite game changer for which Asus and the others must also be developing new models. Already, it seems crazy that the cheap dual-core ULV 11 and 12 inch models are getting scarce and being replaced with single-core processors barely any faster than Atoms, but I guess they’re just trying to clear the way for the core i3/5/7 ultraportables that will hit this summer. I for one am ready to replace my old 10” atom netbook, but it seems that the smart money is on holding off until June or July if I can really land an 1830T for under $600.
This looks like a very exciting netbook/ultraportable, especially if they can keep the price pretty low. Only thing I can complain about is the lack of USB 3.0 or SDXC (as rumored to appear on the Asus 1018P and HP Slate, respectively). Guess you can’t get it all, but hopefully we’ll start seeing more Core 2010 ULV machines soon.
