ASUS Ditches Eee PC Recovery DVD for Profit and Environment

ASUS has been rock solid in providing no fuss recovery media for their Eee PC netbooks. Slap the media in an optical drive, reboot and let it wipe your netbook clean back to it’s factory settings. Can’t say the same for Samsung netbooks…

Well it seems now ASUS will be scrapping physical recovery media for Eee PC netbooks and notebooks, apparently for the environment’s sake, but I’m sure it’ll help save some money as well. You can always use the F9 key to restore your netbook and hopefully they will provide a method to create backup media.

ASUS is devoted to creating environment-friendly products/packaging to safeguard consumers’ health while minimizing the impact on the environment. In order to reduce the use of substances harmful to the environment, the EeePC and notebook product package does not come with the notebook support DVD. For system recovery, use the F9 recovery function instead.
