Someone by the name of JazzDoc, working in the “industry” has spilled the beans on the roadmap of the ASUS Eee PC netbooks. It reveals new Eee PC products including a 12-inch ION mini-notebook! and a few surprising EOLs:
- In October, it seems like a 12” ION powered mini-notebook will be launched, named the 1201N. It comes with an Atom N270 processor, 2GB RAM, 250GB HDD, Bluetooth and 802.11n Wi-FI. Priced at $499.
- The ASUS Eee PC 1000HE was going to be on the market for a while, but last week was slapped by the EOL label. When it will be phased out is uncertain.
- The 1005HA-P (10.5 Hour Battery) model will get a higher capacity 250GB HDD along with Windows 7 Starter, when Windows 7 goes on sale in late October.
- The 1005HA-M, as seen in Europe, will be launched with Windows 7 Starter. It has an Atom N270 processor. It has a matte display unlike the rest of the 1005HA models.
- New 1008HA models: The 1008HA-P (Atom N280 processor, 320GB HDD, 2GB RAM, BT, 802.11n Wi-FI) priced at $480 and the 1008HA-M (Atom N280 processor, 250GB HDD, 1GB RAM, BT, 802.11n Wi-Fi) priced at $430.
- Tablet netbooks: T91 has no change, but a T91MT (multi-touch) will be released with a 32GB SDD priced at $549. No release date set yet. T101P is mentioned, but nothing new we haven’t heard before: Next year with an Atom N450 processor, Pine Trail and Windows 7.
- Both the 11.6” 1101HA and 1005HA-E (or 1005HA-B at BestBuy) which comes with a 3-cell battery and sells for under $300 are both already available.
- A couple of netbooks get an early death! The 11.6” 1101HA has an EOL in October, while the 10.1” 1008HA has an EOL in November, as it will be replaced with the newer 1008HA models listed above.
Jeez, and I just bought a 1005HA thinking I’d be safe until next year, given that we have been hearing that a few netbook makers including ASUS would not be releasing new models until next year. So much for that!

About time Asus gets on the Nvidia Ion netbook bandwagon. Now just waiting to see if Dell and HP will release their take on Nvidia Ion netbooks.
I think you meant to say a 32gb SSD regarding the T91.
Honestly I’m a bit disappointed in the Nvidia ION as a system, I’m hoping they’ll pair up the 9400M with a CULV processor instead. There really isn’t enough of a graphics boost, besides for video, to warrant the ION in an Atom based netbook.
I love asus but without a single budget culv netty coming out theyre not worth a look to me. looks like an msi x400 pour moi.
Hi Bobby, they are coming out with some CULV notebooks next month, at least in Europe and Taiwan.

Thanks for the correction Justin.

if i bought 1005ha now you think i can upgrade it to W7 no hardware troubles ??
BTW I dont care about HDD
Once the 1005HA Windows 7 models are released, there should be drivers available for Windows 7, so there shouldn’t be any hardware troubles.
As of right now, though, there may be, I don’t know because I haven’t installed Windows 7 on my 1005HA.

It seems to me, with competition from the likes of MSI, Samsung, Acer, Dell…Asus seems to be slipping in the netbook arena. Many manufacturers are already offering higher resolution displays, and Ion is pretty much a done deal in the near future, at a reasonable cost. Asus, seems to be dragging their feet.
