Remember when ASUS said they would cut back on all their crazy Eee PC inbreeding earlier this year? It never did happen, and now here’s another example that’s just cropped up in Japan: The ASUS Eee PC 1000HT.
The ASUS Eee PC 1000HT has the same chassis as the Eee PC 1000HE / 1000x series but with cut-down specs: An Atom N270 processor, 0.3MP webcam, 802.11b/g Wi-Fi and a lower capacity 6-cell battery rated at 6.4 hours. It still has the same 10.1” 1024x600 matte display, 1GB RAM and 160GB HDD and runs Windows XP. Priced at 37,800 yen (relative pricing would be under $300) and goes on sale on Oct 17.
Speaking of the Eee PC 1000HE.. the new Seashell Eee PC 1005HA may be smaller, lighter and have longer battery life but the 1000HE had a better quality display, better sound and the HDD easily upgradable. It did have a terrible, very unusable touchpad though.
