Update: Another video from JKKMobile.
Remember the 8.9” Gecko EduBook, powered by an x86 compatible Xcore86 CPU and can be powered by 8 NiMH AA batteries?
The folks at Norhtec answer some questions from users, including info about pricing and availability. The guy even shows off the netbook in portrait mode like an ebook-reader.
It’s actually available to order right now and has been since the 1st of June. Pricing is about $199.95 for individuals, $160 for schools. A barebones model costs $10 less. Dealers will get an even lower price. The goal is to produce the world’s most affordable netbook.
Check out the Gecko EduBook product page at Norhtec.
Also, it was spotted over at Computex 2009 by the netbooknews crew last week. Looks like the creators have worked out a cheaper deal by selling the netbook parts separately.
