We might be seeing a Google netbook out before the end of next year if TechCrunch sources are correct. Sources say that Google have been talking to hardware manufacturers about making a netbook for Google and detailed specs have already been proposed and passed on. A release date seems set towards the end of 2010.
No details on the actual netbook have been leaked yet. No doubt it’ll have Google Chrome OS for starters. It may even be a smartbook (with an ARM processor) instead of a Pinetrail netbook, perhaps even powered by Tegra 2.

I find this hardly surprising. The netbook market is getting bigger and bigger and Google has always been looking for new avenues to expand its operations.
