The folks at LaptopMag have a short video of the upcoming Disney Netpal from Asus, which we only just heard about today.
Some kind of fancy Disney software runs on top of Windows XP and parents can password protect the default XP desktop and lots of options for controlling time usage and blocking out undesirable websites. Sounds pretty good for the parents.
We know the processor know. An Atom N270 processor. As before: 8.9” 1024 x 600 display, 1GB RAM, 16GB SSD or 160GB HDD.
They’ve stated a release date of August, instead of July.. so I guess late July, early August.
And again, the actual netbook is far more interesting. A new design modeled after the 10-inch Seashell line up into an 8.9” form factor, but it’s larger than the previous 901 model, just look at the huge bezel. At least you get a much larger / better keyboard that’s spill resistant too. Kids are always spilling things all over the place.
I don’t know.. I’d rather give my kid (if I had one) a Dell Mini 9… oh wait, they don’t sell’em anymore.
