ASUS Eee PC 1005HA user xxraffyxx, of the EeeUser Forums has troubles with his glossy screen outdoors. As you do. Well, he picked up an ASUS Eee PC 1005HA-V which comes with a matte display and he was blown away by the difference, so he decided to buy a ViewGuard film for this 1005HA.
Kind of obvious, but it’s nice to see pictures. Overall the matte display on the 1005HA-V slightly outperformed the matte film.

glossy is supposedly much better indoors (where you spend most of your time).
