Update: Read the comments for some corrections regarding software.
Here’s a video demonstrating HD video performance on these new 11.6-inchers (and larger) with a dual-core Intel Celeron SU2300 (1.2GHz) processor and GMA 4500MHD graphics. The CPU isn’t important here but the graphics is, as it supports various video formats through hardware acceleration. Nothing new here as this graphics chipset has been used in notebooks for quite a while already but I’m sure this will be helpful for people new to notebooks. With Windows 7 on by default now, playing HD video is possible straight out of the box, without using any special software.
The video shows H.264 720P video, 1080P video and a QuickTime trailer. All played through MPC-HC as it gives the lowest CPU usage rates. I played 4 simultaneous videos for the fun of it but somehow it ended up a little choppy even through frame rates weren’t maxed out.
Some videos play out of the box (MP4) without having to install DivX Labs MKV Preview for Windows 7 (if you play MKVs, which if you are into HD videos you’ll need).
Double click the video below and watch it in HD over at YouTube.

Peter, you don’t really need the Divx MKV Preview except for WMP12, MPC-HC has its own MKV splitter which works just fine on all OS, XP to Win7.
In MPC-HC Options, Internal Filters, if Matroska is not checked, just check it and MKV is support natively.
Divx MKV Preview is only needed if you want to play MKV in WMP12, which doesn’t support MKV natively. MPC-HC does support it natively with its internal MKV splitter and doesn’t need anything installed except for the DirectX Redist update.
Just splitter (haali-32/64) needed to play mkv windows7, wmp12 and MC7
Great!
can someone give me a quick rundown of the su2300, su3500, su7200 etc processors?

Thanks andy!
can this laptop can be upgraded to a dedicated graphics card?
Is the “dual-core” CPU the key for good perfomance on HD videos?
Considering that there was already an AS1410 with same specs and Intel Core2 Solo processor. Where does the higher Frequency and bigger L2 cache make a difference?
What about the AS1810T and AS1810TZ? Any chance of better performance? Or just waste of $?
And finally, considering gaming, is the ION with a future dual-core Atom the better option?
Thanks and sorry for my English.
The core 2 solo versions of the AS1410 Just went down to $399 at Amazon. Still seems like the SU2300 is the better deal, but interesting news all the same
