Update: Samsung is delaying their Samsung N510 too.
Lenovo has decided to delay the launch of its NVidia ION powered model of their 12.1” Lenovo S12 mini-notebook until after Windows 7 launches.
This means the ION S12 will ship at the end of October and will retail for $550. I hope this means that it will ship with Windows 7. Lenovo hints that Windows 7 would be a better choice. If it’s the full fledged ION chipset, and not ION LE, then it will have to ship with Vista if not Windows 7. Good move, if Lenovo is waiting for Windows 7.
That other ION netbook from Samsung, the 11.6” Samsung N510 is scheduled to ship next month for $600 and it has ION LE with Windows XP.
Last bit of news is that HP is also coming out with a ION powered device of their own! In the coming weeks no less! No word on whether it’s a nettop, or a netbook right now.

Let’s hope they actually honor this release date!
I already guessed this was what they were waiting for, since Windows 7 can take better advantage of the ION. I suspect the Samsung N511 will be a full-ION netbook after Windows 7 as well.
I’m not sure how well Samsung can compete against the S12 if it’s going to ship with Win7 and the full ION, for $50 less.
