Kohjinsha’s New 11.6” EX Series Tablet Mini-Notebook

Kohjinsha Japan has joined the band-wagon and is releasing a 11.6-inch mini-notebook to call their own. The Kohjinsha EX series. This one is in tablet netbook form though! (capacitive touch screen)

Keeping in the Kohjinsha tradition, they’ve packed in rare features: an optical drive and ExpressCard/34 slot and a 3.0MP Webcam with auto-focusing. There’s an additional 0.3MP webcam on the outside. Last of all, a fingerprint reader.

Again, keeping in that tradition means poor battery life: Li-ion battery is rated at 4.5 hours.

Other specs: 11.6” 1366 x 768 Display, Atom N270 processor, 1GB RAM, 160GB HDD, Intel 945GSE chipset and Windows XP Home.

Ports: 2x USB, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, VGA out, Bluetooth 2.0+EDR, SD Card + Micro SD Reader, audio jacks.

The Kohjinsha EX series will go on sale at the end of this month (August) for 69, 800 yen ($740). Almost $200 more than the ASUS Eee PC 1101HA and $300 more than the Acer Aspire One 751.
