So, back to the Lenovo IdeaPad S10-3 netbook. It’s been running my battery tests since I’ve got it (from my results I’m estimating around 7 hours of battery life) and today I got around to taking a look at what’s upgradable.
As usual with Lenovo netbooks you’ve got easy access to RAM as well as storage. There’s a half-sized mini PCI-e slot used for Wi-Fi and another full sized mini PCI-e slot that’s free. Unfortunately like every other Lenovo laptop / netbook I’ve used previously, it seems to be locked. Actually it’s worse now because the netbook won’t even boot up anymore if you have a non approved 3G modem in there, like if you have a Broadcom Crystal HD Decoder in there, which I tested.

Modifying the s10, s10-3, and s10-3t should all work the same. Have a look at my post here:

I modified my s10-3t to work with the broadcom crystal hd. I noted your post before and it was insightful in leading me to my final testing and conclusion that the 3G slot is USB only.
I am stuck now trying to figure out the conflict with the drivers for Win7 and Win 7’s touch drivers. The broadcom driver has an issue and will disable the touch drivers and cause boot problems when installed. Testing with the Linux driver was successful though.
