The MSI Wind U160, MSI’s other new Pinetrail netbook they were showcasing at last month’s CES 2010, makes another appearance with an unboxing over at NewGadgets.de. They’ve got a pre-production black model but there’s also a brown model as we’ve seen previously.
Really liking the matte display. There are a couple of distinct design additions: the glowing MSI logo and a power button in the screen hinge.
Also nice to see MSI finally adding a RAM access panel on the bottom. Behind the 6-cell 5800mAh, 65Wh battery lies a SIM card slot for models that come with 3G.
Hugely disappointed to see a bulging 6-cell battery, that’s a step backwards in my opinion considering the older MSI Winds had pretty much integrated 6-cell batteries.
Still have not seen the U160 pop up in stores just yet.

They almost got it right. Almost. We can only hope that it’s just a preproduction battery.
Yeah, the U135 seems fine with it’s integrated 6-cell battery. It’s puzzling why they wouldn’t do it here unless this model ships with 3-cell batteries somewhere.
Thanks for participating!
