MSI has just made the MSI Wind U160 Pinetrail netbook official today, in Taiwan (see press release).
While we haven’t seen any battery benchmarks yet for the U160, MSI is claiming a 15 hour battery life which is the highest claim yet for a Pinetrail netbook. (over the Eee PC 1005PE’s 14 hour claim). Let’s hope it can get at least 10 - 11 hours.
MSI Wind U160 specs:
- 10.1” 1024 x 600 Display
- GMA 3150 graphics
- 160GB HDD 2.5” SATA
- 1GB RAM (2 max)
- VGA, 3x USB 2.0, audio jacks, RJ45
- 3-Cell or 6-Cell Battery
- 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth V2.0 + EDR
- 1.3MP Webcam
- Windows 7 Starter
- 1 kg (3-Cell)
- Optional 3.5G mobile broadband
- Available in Fancy Gold or Jet Black colors
Given the slim design (less than 1-inch all over) and the existance of a 3-cell battery, it’s safe to say that the retail version does have a bulging 6-cell battery.
