Every week I notice at least one netbook around the world getting a release, most of them from unknown companies, or only being released in certain markets or just plain don’t stand out from the pack. Time for a weekly summary of such netbooks:
11.6” Kinpo N30
Pictured above.
Specs wise this 11.6” mini-notebook from Kinpo differs slightly from most netbooks. It’s packed with a VIA Nano processor (1.2 or 1.3GHz), 1/2GB RAM and runs Windows XP/Vista Home Basic. 3x uSB ports, 2.5” SATA HDD/SSD and a 4000mAh battery. Packs in 3G / WiMax connectivity.
Weighs less than 2.9 pounds. Sadly, currently only available in China for $350 (US equivalent pricing).

I like the design of this netbook. It reminds me very much of the MSI Wind series. Specs are nothing special (Atom N270, 160GB HDD, 1GB RAM). Apparently it’s the cheapest WWAN enabled netbook in Asia priced at $468 (equivalent)

Carray Netbook

Specs are what you’d expect: Atom N270, 10.2” 1024x600 Display, 1GB RAM, 160GB HDD, 945GSE Chipset. 802.11b/g Wi-Fi and 2nd PCI-e slot for 3G/3.5G card. Don’t expect much from the 3-Cell battery 2200mAh battery. It’s got the classic tiny right shift key common on Asian netbooks.

Stone Neo

This netbook popped up at Computex 2009. I remember Nicole talking about those quick start keys at the top. Fail to recall the name but anyway the review mentions “average” many times over so it can’t be that great. Other than those quick keys the other thing that stands out is an Express Card/34 slot. Available in the UK.
