Update: MSI Wind L2100 Now Available!

Looks like MSI has yet another MSI Wind 12-inch model in the form of the MSI Wind L2100 (L2100-036US). Comparing the specs of this one to the Wind12 U210, I see absolutely no difference other than a switch from Windows Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Home Premium and being $20 cheaper at $459.

You’ve still got the same 12.1” 1366 x 768 display, AMD Athlon Neo MV-40 processor, 2GB RAM, 250GB HDD, ATI Radeon X1250 graphics, 802.11n Wi-Fi, 1.3MP webcam and 6-cell battery.  Same ports as well.

This was likely released at a higher price so they can clear stock of the U210 parts…and then release what many are waiting for, a netbook with real graphics for a change, and make it cost an arm and a leg.

Sigh.  Still no netbook for me.

Bought this computer from newegg two weeks ago. battery life suffers when streaming video off sites like hulu. Full screen flash video is not watchable and the screen looks like its only 256 colors.
Over all it performs better than my 10” acer aspire one which is why I bought this laptop. Calling it a netbook isn’t fair because there aren’t many netbooks on the market that are as capable a computer as the wind l2100 (aka wind U210) The track pad works great besides the fact there isn’t a scroll bar. The keyboard truly is full size like any other laptop. like most computers sold now it comes with a 1.3MP webcam, unlike the rest it works perfectly in low light and comes with facile recognition software making it easy to login. last thing is ditch win7, it makes for a poor os. Ubuntu 10.04 has full driver support out of the box making it a easy switch.
