First real pictures of the Pine Trail ASUS Eee PC 1008P! Actually a special edition 1008P-KR, designed by Karim Rashid - if that means anything to you.

Looks wise it seems very similar, if not the same as the Eee PC 1008HA - except the keyboard is now chiclet. The coolest feature is that unlike the 1008HA, this battery is removable - in slide out fashion. Very cool!

Specs: Pine View Atom N450 processor (up to 1.8GHz with SHE), 1GB RAM, 160GB HDD, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 1.3MP Webcam, 10.1” 1024x600 display and Windows 7 Starter.

The ASUS Eee PC Seashell 2 1008P-KR is expected to be released in February 2010 and will be available in Hot Pink and Gold Brown colors. The 1005HR-KR is expected very soon in Graphite Black.

New intel atoms = fail. Arm with tegra 2 or Culv with ion 2 -thats next generation. The new atoms won’t be as powerful as the newest arms with tegra 2 and are not even close in terms of efficiency. If you want mobile power then Culv with ion2 is the way to go.

What a disappointment! Expected of the new generation of Atoms, but other than the 200MHz boost, this is no better than a netbook from a year ago! At least they could have boosted the screen resolution, I’m having such a hard time living with 1024*768…

Spare a thought...
