This is the first time I’ve seen pricing for the next generation Atom processors revealed.
The next generation Atom being the N450 in the list below. You can see a price difference of $20 from the original Atom N270 processor. This pricing doesn’t include discounted pricing when buying the CPU and the accompanying Intel graphics chipset.
- Atom N330 (nettops) - $43
- Atom N270 (netbooks) - $44
- Atom N450 (next generation) - $63
- Atom Z530 (netbooks) - $65
Pretty expensive, heh. I think one of the reasons we haven’t seen the Atom Z530 CPU in too many netbooks is because it’s too costly in a netbook. This apparently has netbook makers reluctant about moving over to the next generation processor for netbooks.

Well hopefully this combined with the “More ION after Win 7” will lead to a few more ION based netbooks (I’m guessing the next gen Atoms won’t be able to use the ION since they’ve got graphics on the same chip already)
