There’s more to the stylish exterior of the Japanese designed Samsung N310 or Go, and perhaps another reason it’s a little more expensive that most other netbooks: It’s equipped with a nifty thief busting tool, Phoenix Failsafe. Electric Pig gives us the details.
This particular tool has parts built into the BIOS of the N310 as well as Windows and enables you to track your N310 remotely, which would be particularly handy if someone decides to take off with your Samsung N310.
What can you track? GPS co-ordinates (should you have a GPS receiver), IP address and several other such details. The webcam can also take pictures remotely, so you can take a lovely snapshot of your thief.
There’s also the nifty ability to access your data stored on your HDD remotely. You can make a backup, erase everything, encrypt stuff or just disable the whole netbook altogether.
Sounds very cool. This is assuming your thief connects to the internet.. but what use is a netbook that is not connected to the Internet? eh?
