Samsung NC10 Gets 2nd Mini PCI-e Slot

As you know, the Broadcom Crystal HD accelerator is a good option for adding 1080p playback for your netbook. Adding it to your netbook is not so straight forward however and may not even be possible. You’ll need a free, unlocked, full sized mini PCI-e slot but that is not very common on netbooks which usually only have one and that is taken up by a Wi-Fi card. That’s even if you can get inside your netbook in the first place.

Graemem of the SammyNetbook forums had the same dilemma with his Samsung NC10 netbook. He didn’t want to give up internal Wi-Fi for 1080p playback with his Broadcom card so he searched for a solution and found it. A second mini PCI-e slot on the NC10 motherboard. There was no actual socket though so he sourced one, soldered it on, plugged in his Wi-Fi card to test the new slot, and Voila! Windows picked up on it. All he had to do was solder a socket on to get it working and now he can use both internal Wi-Fi and get 1080p playback!
