We heard about Sharp making a comeback in the laptop market after being quiet for a year and last week they revealed that they were coming out with a netbook and early this week they showed it off. Welcome the Sharp Mebius NJ70A netbook.
It has a 4” 854 x 480 light sensor lcd touchpanel which happens to have a netbook built around it. You can do all the sorts of things you can do on a touchscreen like writing and playing games and it accepts both fingers and a stylus which tucks into the netbook somewhere. For all those Japanese learners out there it has Japanese dictionaries built-in.
As an added bonus they have fitted a nice looking netbook around it with a 10-inched sized screen and a full width keyboard. It will come in black or white with optional skins to slap onto the top.
The netbook specs are nothing new though: Atom N270 processor, Intel 945GSE chipset, 1GB RAM, 160GB HDD, 10.1” 1024x600 Display. USB x 3, 802.11b/g Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Multi-card reader, VGA, microphone and headphone ports. The 3-cell lithium-ion battery is rated at 3 hours long. All weighing in at 1.46kg / 3.2 pounds.
Though it has Vista Home Basic instead of the usual Windows XP Home.
Sharp will be releasing the Mebius NJ70A towards the end of May for around 80,000 yen ($813), next month. Plenty of pictures in the links below, or you can check out the official product page at Sharp.
