A video up on YouTube comparing both the Sony Vaio W and Toshiba NB205 netbooks.
It’s not in English, but you can get a good look at both the chiclet keyboards on them both which look very similar but the NB205’s is larger and you can compare the outside of the netbooks which the Sony Vaio W coming in slightly smaller but thicker than the Toshiba NB205.
Sadly we don’t get the see either with their 6-cell batteries, but we have seen what a Toshiba NB205 looks like with it’s 6-cell battery.
The other huge difference is in price. A 6-cell Toshiba NB205 comes in at $400 (Amazon). A 3-cell Sony Vaio W comes in at $500 (Amazon). I know where I would be spending my money, though the Sony Vaio W does have a high resolution 1366 x 768 display, mmmm.

I wish more manufacturers would jump on the HD screen boat, though it’s a joke that the Sony doesn’t have a 6-cell battery. In terms of the keyboard, I’d have to go with the Toshiba by default, I can’t live without a full size right shift key.
The Sony looks great I really like the design but ughh they stuck with the old GMA950 in there.
If only looks told the whole story… My keyboard on my Toshiba NB205 went bad after less than a month. These things happen from time to time. The real story is the fact that the Toshiba comes with a “limited” warranty that doesn’t cover shipping to their repair facility. In addition, it took me over two hours on the phone with their ill-informed customer service people to learn that how to get the device in for repair—apparently it was “new” and even their managers admitted to being inadequately trained. As it happens, I bought the netbook from Newegg—and although it was just beyond their warranty period, they were quick to offer a partial credit to cover my costs. A big thumbs down for Toshiba and a high five to Newegg. No matter what netbook you’re thinking of, check the warranty BEFORE you buy.
