Right now there’s some FC Expo 2010 going on here in Japan, all about hydrogen / fuel cell technology. Hardly relevant, but when they’ve got a Sony Vaio X netbook on display powered by a thumb sized fuel cell? That’s worth mentioning.
You can see in the picture, they’ve removed the li-poly battery which is sitting in front of the Vaio X and it is running on two fuel cells alone.
One of these fuel cell products is aimed at low voltage devices which includes the netbook / laptop market called “FC-Cube Dual”, and in this particular case with the Sony Vaio X, lasts around 3 hours. I assume that is two cubes, providing said hours. The plan is for these to go on sale in July for around 2000 yen ($23).
Hmm, I’ll stick to extra batteries… not that I even need extra batteries.
Thumb sized….?
