The folks at wow-pow.com managed to get their hands on both a Sony Vaio X and NEC VersaPro UltraLite VS netbook. Both are the lightest and thinnest netbooks in their class (725g for NEC’s, 765g for Sony’s). Overall the Sony Vaio X wins because not only does it look better it is better value, with more features than NEC’s.
The NEC feels sturdier and has a faster SSD (120 / 100 MB R/W speeds vs half for the Sony Vaio X) but it lacks a webcam, has only 1GB RAM, No Windows 7 and no palm rest is uncomfortable for long periods of time when typing. It’s 3-cell battery lasts at best 4 hours, but there is an extended battery available.
The Sony Vaio X has more screen resolution (1366 vs 1280 width) on it’s thinner display, Webcam, 3G / WWAN, Bluetooth, 2GB RAM and Windows 7 and ends up $100 cheaper than NEC’s. Oh yeah, and the NEC is only available in Japan and you can only purchase it direct from their store.

Very poor review.
The NEC has fewer pixels but a 10.1 inch screen while the Sony is 11.1, so overall NEC wins anyway for a more pixel dense display. Sony ranks the battery life as 3.5hr vs NECs 4hr - extended batteries are available for both models. The NEC is lighter, and is made of MAGNESIUM ALLOY and not cheaper, weaker Carbon fiber. NEC uses a faster SSD and that determines Windows speed. NEC offers Win 7 drivers and upgrade on their site and an XP downgrade option is available too.
However, the NEC is able to bear 150kg of weight and is drop resistant for 72cm. Can SONY beat that? Nope. The only laptops equating this are Panasonic Toughbooks.
This review is a fail.
Buy the NEC, honestly, bets netbook in da world.
