Canonical’s Ubuntu Netbook Remix is getting it’s first GUI overhaul in time for the Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala release in October this year.

Some improvements noted over at Ubuntu Mini:

  • No more Orange/Brown…almost (Yeah that’s an improvement in my books!)
  • More space for icons by removing the right “locations” sidebar and integrating it into the left menu.
  • Can easily “add to favorites” from any icon (with the new Notification system put to use here)
  • App launcher no longer animates and is faster, less distracting
  • Feels more responsive

Also, check out the related link on new features coming in Ubuntu 9.10.
