Don’t know how I missed this but about two months ago Ubuntu added Intel GMA 500 graphics drivers to the repositories. So this is for the following netbooks: Dell Mini 10/12, Acer Aspire One 751, ASUS Eee PC 1101HA / T91
I’ve heard a few people recently having problems with the 3D effects though. I wonder if that is related to these new drivers.

When I saw your post, I thought it must be too good to be true. And it seems that it is.
From the posts I see under the instructions links, it seems that you can get the proper screen resolution, but redraw times are really slow. And no real 3D support or real hardware acceleration.
But for basic 2D applications, it sounds like it works enough to be usable. That’s a start.
